The Cape Sounion tour is a half - day trip that is considered the most enjoyable and attractive trip inside the Attica region. It provides the chance to view different kinds of sights. The highlights that you will visit during this trip will take you from Ancient Greece to the remains of World War II and the modern ages.
This half-day trip begins with a 65-kilometer curvy, coastal drive to the Temple of Poseidon, the God of the sea. Our first stop on the way to Cape Sounion is in P. Faliro where the heroic battleship “Averof” is docked. This battleship participated in World War II and has been modified to be a naval museum with unique and precious exhibits. The condition of the ship is perfect and when you go on board you can see the place where heroes fought.
Next, I will show you a panoramic view of the Saronic Gulf from Laimos and then we will visit the lake of Vouliagmeni with it’s healing waters. Surrounding the lake are numerous caves and underwater corridors that nobody has managed to fully explore. A few who tried to find out where the caves lead where lost inside them. Don't try it....
Before reaching Cape Sounion, you may want to have a swim in the aquamarine waters of the Aegean Sea with a view of the temple. Enjoy lunch on the beach at a seafood taverna, feasting on fresh grilled fish or have a traditional Greek meal. See the magnificent ancient monument dedicated to the God of the Sea, Poseidon, before returning to Athens. This tour can also be done in the afternoon allowing yourself to witness an absolutely breathtaking sunset from the Temple.
We work strictly with our A/C Mercedes sedans that can hold 4 passengers plus the driver. All tours are priced per tour not per person and do not include entrance fees to the archaeological sites or food.
Overnight tours include the drivers' hotel, meals and all tolls/gas. They do not include your hotel, meals and entrance fees to the sites.
None of the taxi tour drivers are licensed guides and would not be able to go into the sites or museums with you. We consider ourselves very knowledgeable about Greece and its history and would give you a lot of information on all the places you would visit before you go in. Licensed guides can be hired at most sites if you choose to do so.
