In 4-5 hours you will see the highlights of Athens. Start off with a visit to St. George Lycabettus, the highest point in Athens. See all of the city and surrounding areas with its fantastic view. It is a great opportunity to take your pictures there and have your memories captured with the whole city in the background. On this hill you will find the small whitewashed chapel of St. George, erected in the 19th century, which was the site of the Byzantine church of Prophet Elijah.
Our next stop will be the President's palace where you will see the changing of the characteristic guards of the presidential garrison. The guards are walking from the President's palace to Syntagma square where the Monument of the Unknown Soldier is placed. This is a monument that honors all the soldiers that died during the wars that Greece participated in.
After the Presidential palace, take a look at the place where the famous Greek philosopher Socrates was held prisoner. Then walk up to the Parthenon, one of the seven wonders of the world, which is placed at the top of the holy rock of the Acropolis with its museum where you will see the great findings of the ancient Greek civilization.
During the tour you are also going to see a variety of sights like the first academy and university in Athens, the Temple of Zeus, the famous Panathinaikon Stadium where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896, and of course you will have the opportunity and the time to see the famous Plaka to shop for souvenirs and try a traditional souvlaki here.
